The Multiple Store commissions new, limited editions, mainly in 3D from major contemporary artists. All our editions are conceived by the artists as editions and are never smaller versions of unique works.
Working closely with the artist and the fabricator, we produce a prototype and the rest of the edition is made using the prototype as a model. In cases where the edition is not made by the artist in person, it is always produced under the supervision of the artist, who only approves and signs the work if they are happy with its production quality.
Most of our editions are produced by manual, not automated means. This means that not every copy is identical and often include minor variations. This also means that the photographs we take of the edition and use on our website may not always be identical to the editioned copy you receive.
Whenever possible, our editions are numbered and signed or initialled by the artist. In other cases our editions are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist and The Multiple Store as publishers.
We are always happy to arrange for a Certificate of Authenticity to be issued on request.
When we launch an edition, we will agree with the artist to produce a small number of Artists’ Proofs which are made available to the artist and The Multiple Store as publisher. Occasionally The Multiple Store will make its Artist Proofs available to sell, once the edition is sold out.
Once an edition sells out, the edition is complete and we never produce further copies from the same edition.
