New solo exhibitions by Fiona Banner this autumn in London and Birmingham
At Birmingham’s Ikon Gallery from 10th October 2015 to 17th January 2016, Scroll Down And Keep Scrolling, is the most comprehensive exhibition of Fiona Banner’s work to date, re-presenting key early projects alongside recent and unseen works that span a period of 25 years. This exhibition is accompanied by a major new artist’s book of the same title. “It is not a survey – more of an anti-survey,” says the artist, “A survey suggests something objective, historical, and fixed. This is subjective; nothing else is possible.” Throughout the exhibition Banner revisits her work with intensity and humour. Click here to read more.
In London, Fiona Banner will be showing FONT at the Frith Street Gallery from 18th September to 31st October. Font, a new type of font that the artist has created, was conceived during the artist’s attempt to survey her practice, in preparation for this exhibition and her first survey exhibition, forthcoming at Ikon, Birmingham. She deploys it as the font for the Ikon exhibition and it appears here, forming a link between the two. Click here to read more.
